about us

Alan
Alan joined ‘Nitelife’ in 1977 and almost 30 years later is still enjoying gigging and entertaining. He feels they have found a magic formula where both audience and band can go out and have a fun time with good music.
More recently, Alan studied for and achieved a Grade 8 (Honours) in ‘Electric Guitar’ with the London College of Music. Still practicing daily and enjoying playing for his own amazement, Alan believes he has suffered for his Art……
……………………..and now it’s your turn!!!

and his drug of choice these days is coffee !

Paul

Born in Ontario,  Canada,  Paul started drumming in 1958 when his parents gave him $50 to take lessons to learn to play properly,   they never did find out what he spent the money on!
Paul has recorded and broadcast extensively for the BBC from the old Playhouse studios in Manchester.   He currently plays a Gretsch drum kit with Paiste cymbals and  uses a '63 vintage Ludwig 400  snare  drum.

He now finds he needs a nap before the gig !

Steve

Pro Career –
worked at top cabaret night club in Manchester backing many of the ‘top turns’ of the day. Also worked for Rank and Mecca at various venues in the North West and spent 3 years in Blackpool. Did a six month stint in the Middle East and played in backing band for the late, great Matt Monro.   Decided to give up music completely and this was confirmed when asked to join Nitelife in early 1980s.(Ha- flippin'- Ha!...the guys)

He once lost the directions to the gig and during breaks he goes to the van to lay down !

Dave

Dave took up keyboards after being impressed by such legends as Russ Conway and Mrs Mills,  and not being a lady and having all his fingers worked very much to his advantage!     Dave is our MC  and principal vocalist,   his voice is particularly suited to singing country, and he has been mistaken for Clint Eastwood. ....during his career  Dave has played for of the Prince of Wales,  the Duke of Norfolk,    and various other pubs..!

Dave can remember half a dozen different club names for the same address,  and he now prefers a music stand                 with a light on...!

Nitelife, '60's tribute band, live band, wedding band, party band, function band, Manchester based, authentic sounds of the 60s like BBC radio 2 s Brian Mathew show saturday mornings and Yorkshire tv Heartbeat tv series .

Very professional and experienced 4 piece (30 years together) function band, wedding band capable of any event: specialise in ‘ladies evenings’, weddings, round table, corporate and private functions.
Keyboards, Lead Guitar, Bass Guitar and percussion, 3 lead vocalists and 3 part harmony, good musicianship and hugely entertaining.
From strict tempo dancing (waltzes, foxtrots, quicksteps etc.), ballads, country & western, standards through to  pop and rock music.  From party games, to comedy and magic. Music that covers all genres through the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and into the new millenium.
A ‘one of a kind’ band voted 'Best Live  Band' by agents and clubs in the north west of England.  Will work with organisers, changing length of performance and content to ensure everyone is entertained.

Nitelife are NOT a band who sell their own recorded CDs at their venues, however, they do do a lovely line in Green Tomato Chutney!!

They abide by the maxim that there are 2 things a good band should always do,

the first is to leave an audience wanting more.
